An excellent tool for every NOUN student. Effortlessly track your academic performance, calculate your GPA & CGPA instantly, and plan for your success.
measures your academic performance for a single semester. It's the average of the grades you achieved in that specific semester, weighted by the credit units of each course.
is the overall measure of your performance across all semesters you have completed. It provides a comprehensive picture of your academic standing.
To calculate your GPA, each letter grade is assigned a grade point. Here is the official NOUN grading system:
| Grade | Grade Point | Score (%) |
|---|---|---|
| A | 5.00 | 70-100 |
| B | 4.00 | 60-69 |
| C | 3.00 | 50-59 |
| D | 2.00 | 45-49 |
| E | 1.00 | 40-44 |
| F | 0.00 | 0-39 |
Your final CGPA at graduation determines the class of degree you will be awarded. NOUN uses the following classification:
| CGPA Range | Degree Classification |
|---|---|
| 4.50 – 5.00 | First Class Honours |
| 3.50 – 4.49 | Second Class Honours (Upper Division) |
| 2.40 – 3.49 | Second Class Honours (Lower Division) |
| 1.50 – 2.39 | Third Class Honours |
| 1.00 – 1.49 | Pass |
| Below 1.00 | Fail / Academic Probation |
Tutor-Marked Assignments count for 30% of your grade. Missing even one TMA can drop your final score significantly. Set calendar reminders and submit at least 48 hours before each deadline.
Before diving into study units, read the course guide to understand what each unit focuses on and what the examiner expects. This frames your studying more effectively.
NOUN allows you to retake courses to improve your grade. If you scored below 50% in a course, retaking it in a later semester can raise your CGPA by replacing the old grade.
NOUN examiners frequently reuse or rephrase past questions. Practising past papers is one of the most efficient ways to prepare and improve your exam score.
Overloading yourself with too many credit units in one semester often leads to poor performance across all courses. Aim for 18–21 credit units per semester as a balanced load.
Distance learning can be isolating. Connecting with other students at your study centre for group revision dramatically improves comprehension and exam readiness.

A: Yes. When you retake a course and pass with a higher grade, NOUN counts the better result in your CGPA calculation. The failed attempt still appears on your transcript but does not pull down your CGPA.
A: No. Your CGPA is finalised at graduation. However, NOUN offers postgraduate programmes that allow you to pursue academic advancement regardless of your undergraduate classification.
A: NOUN places students on academic probation if their CGPA falls below 1.0. Students on probation have restricted course registration until their performance improves.
